Savannah Hazel Burchard...

February 13th, 2011
8:56pm
6 pounds, 14.9 ounces
20 inches long

I had to go to the hospital Sunday morning for more tests since my blood pressure was high on Friday and my doctor decided to induce me. I had mild pre-eclampsia so he figured since I was 39 weeks he would rather play it safe before there was a problem. I went into the hospital at about 10am on Sunday but they didn't admit me until 1:15pm ish. They started me on Pitocin right away. About an hour later, the dr came in and broke my water. I was on the birthing ball and walking around for a few hours. At some point in time I decided on getting some pain meds in my IV. I was 4cm dilated then. I laid down and felt okay for 45 minutes and then the pain was just too bad. They checked me and I was 7cm dilated. I decided on an epidural because my contractions were coming way too fast and it just hurt too bad. I felt way better after the epidural but still felt some contraction pain on my right side. They checked me again after about an hour or so and I was already 10cm. I was ready to push. The nurses had me push through one contraction and the baby's head was right there. The dr came in and I pushed through two more contractions and Miss Savannah was here. That was at 8:56pm. All and all I would say that I had a very easy labor and delivery. Even though I couldn't do it natural, I'm proud of myself! hehe. Savannah is absolutely perfect in every way.

Little Savannah

I'm so happy that she is here. We have had an awesome time with family and have a couple days just the three of us and then we'll have a house full for a week. I'm sure someone will be holding her the whole time we have visitors. lol. She is sleeping so good. We've been having to wake her to eat. She sure is a lazy bones just like she was in my belly.

6 days...

Miss Savannah is due in just 6 days. I went to the doctor today and my blood pressure was elevated. It's the first time since I've been pregnant that this has happened. So now that means starting tonight I have to pee in a bottle for the next 24 hours and then Sunday morning Pat and I will be heading to the hospital to make sure there isn't protein in my urine. They will also do some blood work and take my blood pressure again. If my doctor doesn't like what he sees, then I'll be induced that day. It's crazy to think that the time has come for all of this. Either way, the baby will be here soon! Tomorrow we'll put our packed hospital bag in the car and install the car seat. We have to bring everything on Sunday just in case he wants to admit me. I told the doctor I have been wanting to have the baby on Valentine's Day and he just laughed and said it might be happening.

This will probably be my last belly picture. I'm so ready for her to get here!!!

My best friend's mom made Savannah the most adorable quilt in the world. I just love it so much!!! It is so perfect. It came in the mail on Wednesday and brightened my day. Sarah also sent me some sponge candy bars, chocolate covered popcorn and some anise from Oliver's. She sent a cute little dress for the baby too!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!!! I'll try to post on Sunday and let everyone know what the doc says.

38 weeks...

I have two weeks left!!! Here is a collage of my belly throughout my pregnancy.

I sure have gotten big! I have gained 28 pounds. Hopefully I'll stay under 30...hehe. At my Dr. appt last week I was 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced. I can't wait to see what I am tomorrow. Hopefully I've progressed!!! We are supposed to get a bad snow storm tonight so I may not be able to make it to my appt. I really want to go so I don't want it to snow. Usually I am all for it since it doesn't happen that often in Houston. Oh well, who knows what is actually going to happen.

Tomorrow is also my last day of work. It's finally becoming all too real. I'm getting nervous, excited, happy, anxious...basically everything. We set up the bouncer a couple nights ago and this weekend we'll put together the swing. Savannah can come at any time so we have to finish getting everything ready. Lets hope she doesn't decide to come with this snow storm on the way. That would be my luck. I'm glad she has a snow suit just in case. I better put that in the hospital bag since this weather has been so crazy. It was 75 this past weekend. Then on Tuesday when I left for work at 6:45am it was 68. By the time I got to work 40 minutes later, it dropped down to 44. And the temperature has been dropping ever since. All I've got to say is brrr.

To all my Houston friends, stay safe today and tomorrow!!! Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Go Steelers!!! hehe ;)
